Studying Harajuku Fashion is one of the most interesting things to do! It is Original, Extravagant and in many cases prominent Designers and Fashion Ideas have sprung from Harajuku and incorporated themselves into other fashions throughout the world (e.g Gwen Stefanie's L.A.M.B. fragrances, CHANEL S/S '10 collection).
But what is Harajuku in first place? "Every Sunday, young people dressed in a variety of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, and decora, as well as cosplayers
spend the day in Harajuku socializing. The fashion styles of these
youths rarely conform to one particular style and are usually a mesh of
many.
Most young people gather on Jingu Bridge, which is a pedestrian bridge
that connects Harajuku to the neighboring Meiji Shrine area. Harajuku
is also a fashion capital of the world renowned for unique street
fashion.Harajuku street style is promoted in Japanese and
international publications such as Kera, Tune, Gothic & Lolita
Bible and Fruits."
There is also a Japanese fashion magazine covering the fashions of the Harajuku district of Tokyo, established in 1997 by photographer Shoichi Aoki. Excerpts from the magazine were compiled to create the Phaidon Press books Fruits (2001) and Fresh Fruits (2005). You can find it in
